BBNaija Star Tacha Hints at Political Ambitions, Eyes Change in Rivers State

Reality television star and media personality Anita Natasha Akide, popularly known as Tacha, has revealed plans to step into the world of politics, expressing a strong desire to be part of meaningful change, especially in her home state, Rivers. Known for her bold persona and unapologetic confidence, Tacha is now setting her sights on a larger stage—governance.

In a recent interview with renowned TV host Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, Tacha opened up about her growing frustration with the state of affairs in Rivers State and her belief that real change can only happen when people take part in the system, not just comment on it from the outside.

“When I look at other states like Abuja and Lagos and I see how far they’ve come, and then I look at Rivers State—with all the potential it has—it’s disappointing,” Tacha said. “There are so many youths, so much untapped talent. If the government would just invest in the people and the opportunities that exist, so much progress could be made.”

Tacha, who gained national fame as a contestant on Big Brother Naija, has used her platform over the years to voice concerns on social and political issues. Her growing involvement in advocacy has prompted many fans to speculate that she may eventually transition from influencer to public servant—and now, she’s confirming that possibility.

When asked directly about her political aspirations, Tacha didn’t hold back. She admitted that she is already working on a plan but is waiting until things are more concrete before making a full public announcement.

“It is something I’m working on,” she said. “But I want to make sure it’s 70% done before I start talking about it publicly. It doesn’t make sense to keep granting interviews and discussing government issues without actually being involved in a tangible way.”

Her statement signals a mindset shift—not just for her, but potentially for her fanbase and young Nigerians who look up to her. Tacha is joining a growing list of Nigerian celebrities who are beginning to embrace politics not just as spectators or activists, but as participants willing to step into the arena and advocate from within.

Born and raised in Port Harcourt, Tacha has always spoken fondly of her roots. However, she has also been vocal about the lack of growth and development she sees in the region compared to other parts of the country. She emphasized that the time has come for youths to take matters into their own hands—not through protest alone, but through leadership.

“There’s so much that young people can offer,” she explained. “We have fresh ideas, we understand modern issues, and we’re not limited by the old way of doing things. But we have to stop standing on the sidelines. We need to be part of the solution.”

Beyond politics, Tacha continues to pursue other personal and professional goals. In the same interview, she revealed her intention to break a Guinness World Record by doing makeup on 150 people in 24 hours. The challenge will test both her endurance and her skills, but Tacha says it’s about more than recognition—it’s about pushing herself and inspiring others.

“It’s one thing to talk about dreams and goals, but it’s another thing to go after them. Whether it’s makeup, business, or government—whatever you do, do it with purpose,” she added.

As a public figure who has evolved from reality TV fame into entrepreneurship, brand influence, and now political engagement, Tacha is proving that reinvention is possible—and powerful.

Her growing political ambition marks a new chapter not only in her career but in the broader conversation around youth participation in Nigerian governance. While the details of her political move remain under wraps, one thing is clear: Tacha is no longer content with simply observing the system. She wants to be a part of reshaping it.

With many young Nigerians disillusioned by politics, Tacha’s voice could be one that bridges the gap between apathy and action. Whether through record-breaking achievements or political milestones, she is clearly aiming to make an impact that lasts.
